Bad Boys is an action-comedy film series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. Created by George Gallo, the series features Joe Pantoliano in all four films, with Theresa Randle replaced by Tasha Smith in the fourth. Directed by Michael Bay (1st and 2nd) and Adil & Bilall (3rd and 4th), the films grossed over $1 billion worldwide. In January 2020, development began on a fourth Bad Boys film with Chris Bremner as screenwriter, and Smith and Lawrence returning. Production was halted in April 2022 after Smith's Oscars incident. However, in February 2023, Smith confirmed pre-production had resumed, and filming began on April 3, 2023, in Atlanta. The film is set to be released on June 6, 2024.
