Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) is a supernatural comedy-horror sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), directed by Gil Kenan and co-written with Jason Reitman. The film continues the franchise's story, with Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and others returning from Afterlife. They are joined by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and other original cast members, alongside newcomers like Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt.
Set three years after Afterlife, the Ghostbusters must unite with their new recruits to stop Garraka, an ancient god capable of freezing the world with fear. After a cursed orb with mystical powers threatens the safety of New York, Phoebe, Trevor, and their team uncover its dark origins and the history of the Firemasters—sorcerers who trapped Garraka centuries ago.
As the ghostly god escapes, the team races to stop him and save the city, using a combination of science, spectral technology, and old-school ghostbusting methods. In the end, the team captures Garraka and restores peace, with the city thawing out and the Ghostbusters back in action. The film ends with a hint of more chaos to come in a mid-credits scene.
