John and Jane Smith, a married couple in marriage counseling, reveal their relationship is in trouble after five or six years. They initially met in Bogotá, Colombia, posing as a couple to avoid suspicion, eventually falling in love and marrying. However, both are secretly top-tier assassins working for rival organizations, concealing their true professions from each other.
Their mundane marriage contrasts with their dangerous careers, but when they are both assigned to kill the same target, a botched mission leads to them being ordered to kill each other instead. Reluctantly, they engage in a series of failed assassination attempts on one another. After a violent showdown, John admits he loves Jane and lays down his weapon, prompting a passionate reconciliation.
Soon, their employers target them, and the Smiths go on the run, fighting off waves of assassins. After kidnapping their original target, Benjamin "The Tank" Danz, they learn he was a decoy meant to push them into killing each other. Discarding their employers’ plans, John and Jane fight side by side to survive, eventually defeating their attackers.
