Plot:
After years of prayer, the angel Gabriel tells Joachim and Anne they will have a daughter, Mary, whom they must dedicate to God. Nine months later, Mary is born in Nazareth. Meanwhile, King Herod orders the murder of his brother-in-law Aristobulus and his wife, Mariamne.
As a child, Mary is consecrated at the Jerusalem Temple and raised there. She meets Joseph while washing clothes, and they become betrothed. Gabriel then tells Mary she will bear a son, Jesus. When the High Priests discover her pregnancy, they cast her out, but Anna the Prophetess assures her she will return. Mary seeks refuge with her cousin Elizabeth, also pregnant, but rumors about her pregnancy spread.
Mary and Joseph marry, but fearing Herod's wrath, they flee to Bethlehem. There, Mary gives birth to Jesus in a stable. After hearing of Jesus’s birth, Herod orders the Massacre of the Innocents. Mary and Joseph escape to Egypt, eventually returning to Jerusalem to present Jesus at the temple.
