Seventeen-year-old Rose boards the Titanic with her wealthy fiancé, Cal Hockley, and her mother. Feeling trapped in her engagement, she contemplates suicide but is saved by Jack Dawson, a poor artist. They form a friendship that blossoms into love, despite Cal's disapproval.

As the Titanic sinks, Rose and Jack face numerous challenges. Jack is falsely accused of theft and arrested, but Rose frees him. They struggle to survive as the ship goes down, and Jack ultimately sacrifices himself to save Rose. In the present, Rose reveals that she had the necklace all along and drops it into the sea. She reflects on her life and the impact Jack had on her.
